About this item

  • THIS EPOXY THICKENING additive maximizes epoxy's adhesive properties in hardware bonding or wherever high-cyclic loads are expected. Blended with epoxy for an excellent gap filler, to creating structural fillets, or wherever you need an especially strong bond. Blend it into any WEST SYSTEM 105 Resin/20X Hardener combination, G/flex Epoxy 650, or G/5 Five-Minute Adhesive. Blended with epoxy, it will cure to an off-white color.
  • HARDWARE OR STUD BONDING is a popular use of this filler. Even small amounts of this 404-High Density added to a blend of epoxy resin and hardener will reduce creep in the cured epoxy. Mix this filler into liquid epoxy to create slurry. It should be thick enough to stay in a horizontal hole, but not too thick. (Blending too much filler into epoxy can trap air.)
  • THICKEN EPOXY with this high-density filler to make a non-slumping adhesive that will bridge large gaps. It will strongly bond wood joints, saving you the time and labor involved in crafting tight joinery.
  • FOR MAXIMUM STRENGTH add only enough filler to completely bridge gaps between surfaces without sagging or running out of the joint, pilot hole, or gap. A small amount should squeeze out of the joints when clamped, or when hardware is inserted. For thick mixtures, don’t fill the mixing cup more than 1/3 full of epoxy before adding filler.
  • THE AMOUNT OF FILLER you add controls epoxy's viscosity. For hardware bonding, mix 404 High-Density filler into epoxy to create a moderately loose slurry. It should be thick enough to stay in a horizontal hole, but not too thick. The chart below offers guidelines to the differences between neat (unthickened) epoxy and three popular consistencies of thickened epoxy: "catsup," "mayonnaise," and "peanut butter."
